Train rides play an important part of this uplifting story, along with family tensions, supports, and tragedies; but it mostly tells how two young people come to depend on each other, alone together in a remote Wisconsin cabin in the middle of beautiful but challenging surroundings. Unknown to them, their indigenous neighbors have been silently watching from afar all along. But no one could guess what guardian angels would be needed next, as Scott struggles to become an honorable man.

WHAT DO PEOPLE SAY?

“‘I have never read such a phenomenal book in my life!!!

Whenever I’d be reading it… I would tell myself, OK, I’ll put it down at the end of this chapter. But, like a tempting piece of chocolate, “Oh, just one more chapter … or two.”

But then I hated to see it end.

I so enjoyed [his] descriptions and metaphors and humor and…and…well EVERYTHING.…
If not the best, then one of THE BEST BOOKS I have ever read.

Kudos to you…for writing such an incredible book.’”
